The Mountain Pine Beetle epidemic killed over 90% of the lodgepole pines in an area the size of Hungary in recent years. We lived at 1200 metres on the edge of this epidemic where there is a mixed forest. However, everyone in our region has felt the impact. The beetles carve out “galleries” under the bark; these provide the source of this imagery – a kind of collaboration!
